Gray

Who knew there could be so many different shades of gray??
I have been going store to store getting paint swatches in order to find the perfect shade. Anderson isn't going to care if his room is a light gray or dark gray so I need to let it go.

We have finally narrowed it down to 5 and will make a decision tonight! Anderson's chair will be delivered today (slightly giddy about it) and I want to see how it will go with the paint.

It is supposed to be a rainy Saturday so Mike plans to paint all day. I love that I have an excuse not to paint because I HATE painting!

If anyone wants to help, come on over. I will likely be unpacking and organizing...still.

Thank you Lord for weekends!

Bow Tie Sweetness

The West Girls outdid themselves this past weekend and threw an amazing shower for Anderson. These girls have walked through life with me for the past 20 years and I can't wait until Anderson gets to meet his "aunts".

The shower was a "bow tie" theme (carried through from our wedding) complete with our nursery colors. Every detail was perfect and I could not have been happier!
Sorry, picture overload...

Melissa made these onesies and the "bow tie" diapers

lemon bow tie cookies- yum!
homemade carrot cake cupcakes- my favorite

I'm such a sucker for anything with an initial or monogram
Melissa made these burp clothes for Anderson too-LOVE THEM!
my sweet friends from college came with their daughters
Love my Bones! My oldest sister came to celebrate too
The special guest of the shower was GUS!! Meg brought Gus over a few hours before the shower and I couldn't wait to get him in my arms. He is the cutest little peanut I have ever laid my eyes on. Gus was perfect the entire time and it was so sweet to see Meg as a momma.

Fighter

I mentioned in my previous post that I'm heading to Clemmons this weekend for our first baby shower. The West Girls are throwing Anderson a shower and I couldn't be more grateful for their love and friendship. I am secretly more excited about meeting Gus for the first time though.

One of my best friends, Megan, had her sweet son a little over 6 weeks early. While we were at the doctor's office finding out the sex of Anderson, I got a text from Meg saying that her water broke. I thought it was a joke a first and then quickly realized she was serious. After 28+ hours of labor, Meg delivered a less than 5 lb bundle of joy.
We headed to Clemmons that weekend and visited Meg & Scott in the hospital. I have never seen anyone look that amazing after giving birth and have the best attitude while their son was laying in the NICU.
Gus went through some really scary times in the NICU but continued to be a fighter. After 6.5 weeks in the NICU, Meg and Scott got to bring their son home the day before Easter.
Meg handled those 6.5 weeks with strength, grace and pure faith. Gus has one amazing mom and I can't wait to watch him grow up adoring his momma. I am counting down the days until I get to squeeze that precious little boy.

Getting Settled

We are alive and Anderson is still kicking (or doing jumping jacks lately)! I am happy to report that our move was pretty uneventful. The movers managed to handle all our items with care and nothing was broken or damaged.
The first morning we woke up in our house, we heard a DJ playing in our driveway. The
Knoxville Marathon & half-marathon runs right by our house, so our street throws a big party every year. We got dressed and went outside to drink (water for me), cheer on the runners and meet lots of neighbors. This might be the new race that the Gibbs family does every year...so get ready! The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning and unpacking! Mike and I both headed out of town for work trips on Sunday afternoon. When we got back into town on Thursday, the boxes sadly had not unpacked themselves.

My parents came into town Thursday afternoon on their way back from visiting Em and her family. Dad "inspected" the house and kept most comments to himself. It was fun to show them the house and talk to mom about our plans for the nursery. Dad did mention that he thought the house was unsafe for O'Malley and he should just continue to live with them. I think the campaign to keep O'Malley in Clemmons has officially begun. I am SO THANKFUL that my parents love O'Malley so much and have taken such good care of him. We took my parents to Cafe 4 to celebrate mom's big birthday and ended the night with yummy cupcakes!

The rest of the 3 day weekend was spent unpacking more boxes, organizing, spending way too much money at Lowes, yard work for Mike and of course EASTER!
Sunday morning started with "operation wear whatever dress fits". We i
nvited our chronically late friends to church with us and of course were late. When we arrived, the church was full along with all the over flow seating. At the last minute, a sweet old man said he found a seat for us. He led us to the very front of the church where they had set up 4 folding chairs...right smack in front of our pastor. I told Tony it was his punishment for making us late!
After a great service, we headed to the country club for a delicious brunch. Tony & Mike spent the rest of the afternoon golfing while Lauren and I napped and walked along the greenway. After golf, the boys came home with our Easter baskets (guess they came up with the idea on the course) and we were very excited to dig into our goodies. It was a perfect Sunday in my book!
Sweet baby Robert is always so happy!
After the Easter brunch and ALL the candy consumed, I have officially popped. There is a baby in my belly and you can definitely tell! I will be waddling your way in the near future. We are taking our first baby class this Saturday (for 8 hours) then I'm heading to Clemmons for our first baby shower!!

One more

Today we signed our life away in honor of another mortgage!
After almost a year of prayer, we decided the Lord was opening doors for us to stay in TN for awhile. We found a cute little house in our desired neighborhood and couldn't be more excited about this new adventure. We just found out that our friends bought the house directly across the street- how fun is that!?!

We can't wait to unpack all the boxes, meet all our neighbors and begin to make it OUR home. Yippee!

Jam PACKED weekend

Our weekend was filled with basketball, friends, baby stuff and packing...mostly packing though. Needless to say, I am tired and sore today.

Friday, "we" watched the Carolina basketball game and packed. You can imagine who did more of the packing that afternoon and evening! When the husband could focus for a minute, we had many conversations that started out like this..."why are you keeping that", "do you really need that" or "it's time to say goodbye". We both parted ways with a lot of stuff and it felt good to take so much to goodwill.

Saturday was breakfast with friends and then nursery shopping! We finally found and purchased Anderson's bedroom set, chair and picked out the chair fabric. The first thing I did when we got home was check those items off my very long t0-do list. It felt soooo good! There's still lots to do with the nursery but the large items are complete.
The rest of Saturday was spent knee deep in boxes and tape.

After church and a baby shower, guess what we did for the rest of our Sunday...PACKED! We did manage to meet Alan and Erica at a local sports bar to watch the Tar Heels. (fun side note- the owner of this restaurant used to be Mike's boss when he was a waiter in Charlotte during high school. small world!)
After drowning his sorrows in beer, Mike and I headed back home to pack more stuff.

Needless to say, I'm over packing. All our boxes are labeled, numbered and correspond with my master list. I'm ready for these movers and will not let them pid
dle on move day. I'm on a mission people!

About a quarter of our boxes. It's a good thing my husband was really good at Tetris growing up
Our very sad closet
Is it Friday yet?!

Birthday Celebration

Today we had a great excuse to meet some friends for breakfast...it was Erica's birthday!
Erica's sweet husband planned a birthday breakfast and 17 of us celebrated over pancakes, biscuits and lots of great conversation. Mike was finally able to talk to a bunch of men about basketball. He tries to talk to me about it, but it doesn't really work out for him.
We had such a good time catching up with everyone and meeting some new faces. I was too busy eating and talking that I didn't get any pictures of the men.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ERICA!
