My Idea

Well, what does any married couple do when you live in a new city and don't have many friends!?!?!? Duh, you head to Gatlinburg, TN!!!! We actually decided to go hiking on Saturday and knew there were some good trails around the Smokies.

We 'thought' the hike would be an easy one up the mountain, with 2 waterfalls, a few bridges and a great view. The hike was a little more strenuous than we thought, but we ended up having a great time. We met some really sweet people, got to see the leaves starting to change and had fun "planning" our future!
Unfortunately, I don't think Mike will let me pick out our next hike...I have lost all privileges!

In other news, we made some friends at church this weekend. I feel like I'm dating again...making small talk, exchanging numbers and not knowing who should call who first!

Another West Girl

The newest "West girl" arrive on Friday, September 17th at 2:33pm. Melissa and Matt welcomed their daughter, Maggie Lynne, into the world. I was so pumped when I heard she was here AND the delivery was super easy. I honestly thought Melissa was walking around and Maggie just fell out...that's how fast it went!!

Mike and I headed to Charlotte bright and early Saturday morning to clean his townhouse (we have renters- WOOT WOOT) and then give Maggie and Melissa some lovin! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this little cutie. We had a great visit with Melissa and mama Jan...and of course lots of QT with Maggie Lynne.
CONGRATS Mel & Matt!

Mexico

Well, I guess I should finally blog about our honeymoon. After our wedding, we relaxed for a day before flying to Mexico on Monday. We flew into Cancun then a driver picked us up and took us about 45 minutes north. There wasn't another hotel in sight...or anything else for that matter!

The resort was huge but you didn't feel overwhelmed. Keeping with true Mexican hospitality, I think there were 5 staffers per 1 guest. Seriously, they were all over the place and always willing to do something for us. Our room was fabulous, lots of space, huge roof top terrace, big comfy bed and lots of booze! The food, pools, ocean and spa kept us busy for 7 days. I don't think I have relaxed that much EVER...I really didn't know what to do with myself!
Since getting home, we have submitted our applications for the next season of The Biggest Loser. Seven days at an all-inclusive resort can be killer!

Say Cheese

There were a few things that I REALLY wanted while planning our wedding. One of the "non-negotiables" for me was a photo booth. We meant to use it more throughout the night, but time just got away from us.
Instead of having our guests sign a "guest book" we choose to have a scrapbook. The guests were supposed to put their pictures in the scrapbook and write a little message. We ran out of pages, so we didn't get to see all of the pictures.
I just got the full CD in the mail today and it is HILARIOUS! When I opened the CD, the front cover was a picture of all my bible study girls. Guess the photo booth guy thought it was a great picture too! For those of you that took multiple pictures and didn't want us to see some of them, sorry...they are great and we love them all!!Also, I would like to introduce you to our 2 friends in Knoxville. This is who we get to hang out with all the time...not sure if you should be scared or not! We do love the Pugh's though!

Home Sweet Home

We are officially home...in Tennessee.
We woke up early this morning to load our cars and stop off at Owen's for breakfast with Ellen, Emerson and Kat! We drove up the mountain and I had to take a picture of our new State sign. Once home, we spent the day unpacking, doing TONS of laundry, opening presents, grocery shopping and trying to get the house in a little bit of order.
Mike made a few trips to Lowe's today because he couldn't wait to get his new grill. He might have surprised me with an awesome wedding gift, but I thought a grill was the best way to his heart!! He spent most of the afternoon putting it together and could not wait to use it. We opened a bottle of Chianti we bought in Italy right after our engagement and ate some yummy dinner. He has spent the night telling me fun facts about his new gas/charcoal grill, but I have already learned the art of "selective hearing!"

By the way...we had a FANTASTIC wedding and honeymoon. More on that later!
